Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 23, 2026

Murmur is a journaling app built with care for women. This is the policy that explains what we do, and especially, what we don't.

What stays on your device

Everything you write inside Murmur — your journal entries, your saved reflections, your name (if you entered one) — is stored locally on your phone. We do not send it to a server. We do not have a database that holds your writing. Even we can't read it.

If you delete the Murmur app from your phone, that writing is permanently deleted with it. There is no backup, by design.

What we collect

We try to collect as little as possible. The only data that ever leaves your device is:

— Whispers you choose to share with the community. These are short anonymous messages. They are submitted without your name, email, or any identifier, and stored in our community database so other users can read them.

— Issue reports you choose to submit through Settings → Report an issue. These contain only what you type, your app version, and your device's general information (operating system, screen size). No journal content is ever included.

We do not collect your name (it lives on your phone, never sent).
We do not collect your email address.
We do not require any account or login.
We do not track your behavior in the app.
We do not use cookies for analytics.
We do not show ads.
We do not sell, share, or rent data to anyone.

Children's privacy

Murmur is intended for adult women. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

How long we keep what we collect

Anonymous whispers are kept indefinitely as part of the community content pool. Because they contain no identifying information, they cannot be linked back to you.

Issue reports are kept for as long as needed to investigate and respond, then deleted within 90 days.

Your rights

Because we don't collect personal identifiers, we cannot identify your data to retrieve, modify, or delete it.

The most direct control you have is on your phone: delete the app, and everything you wrote inside it is gone.

If you submitted an issue report and want it deleted, write to us at murmurforher@gmail.com and we'll honor the request.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We won't quietly weaken your privacy.

Contact

If you have any questions about your privacy on Murmur, write to us at murmurforher@gmail.com.

The shorter version

Murmur is built to be a quiet place to write. Your writing stays on your phone. We don't sell or share data. Anonymous community whispers are the only thing that ever leaves your device, and they contain no information that points back to you.
